Citizens Academy

In 1995, the Philadelphia Division became the second major field office to host a Citizens Academy. Each year, approximately twenty-five individuals are selected to participate in this engaging eight-session program.

Participants are chosen from a wide range of community, civic, and faith-based organizations, as well as leaders from the business sector, local media, and educational, medical, and cultural institutions. Attendees gain firsthand insight into the work of FBI agents through field experiences, educational presentations, and case discussions.

The program offers a deeper understanding of the FBI’s mission, policies, procedures, and ongoing challenges.

Alumni Association

Each graduate of the FBI Philadelphia Citizens Academy (FBIPCA) is eligible to join the Alumni Association. The goal of the FBI Philadelphia Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBIPHLCAAA) is to continue the work of the Citizens Academy by promoting a safer community through a strong working partnership with the Philadelphia Division of the FBI, and in particular providing support to the division’s Community Outreach Unit.

The FBIPHLCAAA’s goal is achieved by its members participating in the FBI’s community outreach initiatives, alumni events, community service projects and serving as FBI Citizens Academy Program Ambassadors educating representatives of the business, labor, media, minority, religious, government, senior citizens and other community leaders about law enforcement, with particular emphasis on the mission, resources, and goals of the FBI.

The Alumni Association comes together throughout the year to update graduates on current law enforcement and community issues, partnership strategies, and outreach and community initiatives. The Alumni Association encourages its members to participate in the FBI’s community outreach initiatives, alumni events and community service projects.
